Dec. 9, 10 & 11 - Nothing to Write Home About and That's Just Fine by Me!

Ugh! Up at 6:50 am to make it to the 7:30 am yoga class. Well worth it, but I am not a morning person. Seniors’ yoga is certainly different from GoodLife yoga, I must say! Then “Senior Stretch” at 9:15 am, which is worth going to just for the laughs alone. We all chuckle our way through this. After our morning walk we did a mini-trip to the mall to buy a hose for our trailer’s water supply. There is always something that needs tweaking at our trailer – but it’s usually a very small thing.
Lunch at Panda House. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g31236-d849817-Reviews-Panda_House-Green_Valley_Arizona.html They have a wonderful lunch special. We went for a hot and sour soup and a tofu, rice, and veggie meal. Tasty! The rest of the day was quite restful. Laur did schoolwork, I read and wrote. After supper and our evening walk, we started watching House of Cards on Netflix. http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/House_of_Cards/70178217?locale=en-US It’s a creepy series for sure, but very well done.

Sticky Bun Tuesday! Oh glorious fat, sugar and white flour high! It’s at 8 am but you want to be there a little early because they sell out very quickly. Only $2 for a bun the size of a meat pie, orange juice, and coffee. I picked the biggest one - it was heaped with pecans - and told Laurence not to worry about getting a big one because I’d only be eating half of mine. I lied. I downed it in a few minutes. They bake them fresh and you cannot imagine how good they smell... And the taste!
A quiet and “normal” rest of the day. House of Cards in the evening.

Simply a fabulous day – a hike and potluck – two amazing events in one day!
We “did” the Gardner Canyon Ditch Walk. See http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=625 There were about 20 of us – we had passengers in our car – Don and MaryBeth from Northern California. MaryBeth can talk as much as I do and we have many common interests. (Poor Jerry, who was sitting in the back seat with us, must have been ready to jump out on many occasions.) Lunch never tastes so good as it does when you’ve walked for an hour or two and are sitting in the sun in Arizona.
Laurence and I both had a generous nap when we got back and I then made up a couple of salads for potluck. There were about 55 people, so this means over 30 dishes to choose from. Laurence and I were on cleanup duty and I started by cleaning up on a second round at the main course table. Laur cleaned tables, I ran around with a broom-mop. Another walk then four more episodes of House of Cards. Woo hoo!
From here on, I’ll only update every few days – as you can read, we have settled into a wonderfully predictable routine of sleep, food, a little exercise, more food, marking-for-Laur and reading/writing-for-Jan, more food, a little exercise, and Netflix. Some days we add a nap for good measure.
