Dec. 30 to Jan. 3 - We May Get Old, But Arizona Never Does
Oh my goodness! Where has the time gone?! Here is what I think we’ve been doing.
Monday, December 30
In the morning we had a Skype chat with Tom and Julie, which was very cool. (It meant missing Senior Stretch and we got “what-for” for that.) It’s neat to think that all of our kids will be living in Ontario come April 2014.
I honestly can’t remember what we did in the afternoon. Chances are I watched a documentary and Laurence marked. And in the evening we watched Longmire.
Tuesday, December 31
Sadly, there was no Pickleball today, so I watched another documentary. Best that I rested because in the evening there was a SENIORS NEW YEARS EVE DANCE! Woo hoo!
We danced from 8 til 12 (or a little less and not every dance) to wonderful songs like “All my Exes Live in Texas.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Eg5uyrpuno
Wednesday, January 1, 2014
Senior Stretch was the biggest class yet! Had to work off all the snack food from the dance, I’m guessing.
Laurence did another marathon session of marking and I enjoyed the pleasant company of journalist Robert Fisk – by MP3 player. This must sound like I’m bored. But I could not be happier.
Thursday, January 2
Things started to pick up again – we had a hike on the Brown Mountain Trail. http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/BrownMountainTrail_8520.asp The variety of cacti and the splendid views... It never gets old.
A quick nap and shower and then off to visit with Nita and Sam. They are incredibly interesting people – Nita went back to school in her 50s and became a nurse. Sam is singer and musician, as well as a lithographer.
Friday, January 3
After Senior Stretch and walking, I got serious about making phone calls to get things organized for our move from #43 to #134, plus buying a car. I was hours on the phone getting insurance, adding a new location for hydro and gas, and so on. I cannot imagine how much work it will be to move from Sudbury to St. Catharines. An apartment is sounding better all the time.
We had our first viewer of our trailer and that was exciting. But not so exciting as getting together with our new friends – Marvin and Phyllis Kelly – and taking them out for supper. They have been so kind in helping us get organized re moving into their place come February 14.
Then, Karaoke. Laur wouldn’t miss it for the world. He sang Rambling Man and Sunny and Ghost Riders in the Sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1xSYyMDaq4 I sang Me and Bobby McKee and I Got You Babe (with help from hubs.)
Saturday we have to clean up the trailer and get packed so that on Sunday we can head out to Phoenix – and from there to Toronto. Only a year and a half until Laur retires... I don’t want to wish my life away, but oh the sun and scenery here...
