Dec. 26 to 29 - Karaoke Cowboy
Thursday, December 26
This is another of my favourite days of the year. Christmas is well and truly over; a day to lounge around. (In lazy AZ, every day is like this.) We didn’t exactly laze on Boxing Day. We had Pickle Ball in the afternoon – woo hoo! And at 4 pm we met up with Marvin and Phyllis Kelly to discuss the details of our buying their Park Model (with Arizona room) and their car – a 1997 Buick Seville. All went really well.
And then off to Los Agaves to stuff ourselves with Mexican food. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g31236-d1988564-Reviews-Los_agaves-Green_Valley_Arizona.html The food and service was great – as it seems to be in most every restaurant in this neck of the woods. We genuinely enjoy the company of the Kellys and feel very fortunate to be able to buy their home away from home.
We started watching Longmire on Netflix. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longmire_%28TV_series%29 It’s a nice change from House of Cards and from Damages. There are some genuinely good people in this series – they are not saints, but they are trying to make the world a better place – one murder at a time. (Did I just say that? I meant, solving one murder at a time.)

Woo hoo! Senior Stretch! So much fun. Next, writing the bank to have them write the Kellys to assure them we have the resources. Faxing First General services to have them start the clean up from the broken water pipe in our basement. Not so much fun. Walking around the park and continuing to receive congratulations on buying the Kellys’ place. So much fun.
In the evening we went to Karaoke. Laur is taking to this like a bear to honey – even practicing a little. We sang “Going to Jackson” by Johnny Cash, and Laur sang a couple of others including “The Battle of New Orleans.” Then a few more episodes of Longmire before calling it a day.
Saturday, December 28
Time to clean up the trailer to get it ready to sell. I gave the toilet a really good cleaning. Too good of a cleaning. I wrecked the mechanism that allows the “content” to drop into the holding tank. Gah! Another call to Dave at Continental RV. Thankfully he was already at the Trailer Park – has to order a part before he can do the necessary repair.
In the afternoon I watched “Underground: The Julian Assange Story” about the teenage years of this lad. It ends with his first arrest at age 20. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground:_The_Julian_Assange_Story It’s a very sympathetic perspective.
Laur got enough marking done that we could go out to an evening movie and we saw Philomena and it is BRILLIANT. http://philomenamovie.com/about.html It is a “must see.”
Sunday, December 29
An uneventful day, pretty much. We were invited to Pickle Ball, but Laur cannot let himself fall behind in his marking. I didn’t mind – I wanted to watch a second Julian Assange film – “We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks.” I recommend seeing this film more out of compassion for Bradley Manning, then for Julian Assange – though I do think Assange is incredibly brave. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Steal_Secrets:_The_Story_of_WikiLeaks
During our presupper stroll around the park we met up with some folks who were having a “Happy Hour” and we enjoyed many good laughs with them before having supper and watching a few more episodes of Longmire.
Oh yeah, and I interviewed to be the Newsletter Gal for the park. They need someone to start in 2014 – but if they don’t get one, the job (voluntary, of course) is mine for 2015. Woo hoo!
